What is Positive Thinking?

Positive thinking can be defined as thinking good things or being optimistic, where there is no room negatives. Positive thinkers do not dwell on bad things; instead, they look for the good, as Churchill said where some people see challenges others see opportunities. So instead of thinking about what could go wrong, think about trying to find something positive in every situation. A person who incorporates positive thinking will have a better personal and business life because they are able to stay upbeat in any situation, they can then use a clear head to find a solution for any challenge, they don’t let the negatives get them down and invade their thoughts leading to procrastination or simply giving up.

How is Positive Thinking Powerful?

Positive thinking can have a great impact on a person but why positive thinking is so powerful. Positive thinking works in three different ways.

  1. It works on you and your general attitude.
  2. It works on those around you.
  3. It has a way of influencing your environment.

Exactly how positive thinking works however is still open for debate.  Some people believe that positive thinking is related to karma  i.e. whatever you put out into the universe comes back to you. Others believe that positive thinking is a mental thing that triggers positive things. Once you introduce positive thinking into your life, it has a way of changing your whole view on life and finding the good will make you happier. Once you do everything in a more positive way, including how you treat others, your new outlook will not go unnoticed and others are more likely to offer you help when you need it.

You still have to make an effort to let positive thinking turn your thoughts and ideas into positive thoughts and ideas, it is up to you rather than the people around you to start pushing the negativity out of your head and let positive thoughts guide you.

The Biggest Threat To Positive Thinking

You may believe, after reading this far, that negative thoughts are positive thinking’s biggest enemy, but that is wrong. Positive thinking’s biggest enemy is excuses, because when you make an excuse you are opening a door to negative thoughts. Excuses are just your way of trying to trick your mind and can make positive thinking very difficult. If you are someone who often makes excuses then you will have a hard time becoming a positive thinker unless you quickly stop. Excuses are something that can fool your mind into thinking you are doing positive things when in reality you aren’t. Try to identify what is really going on and why you feel you need to make the excuse. Are you trying to justify a negative thought which is common, when a person is just beginning to use the power of positive thinking.
