Corporate Manslaughter becomes Law

The introduction of this law will affect all UK employers from multinational corporates to small partnerships. The amended Corporate Manslaughter Act comes into force on April 6, 2008. For the first time in UK law senior management can be found guilty of manslaughter for gross negligence. In the past, prosecutors had to prove that at least one senior company officer or director was guilty of gross negligence. Changes to the law were brought in after it was argued that companies with complex management or communications systems could duck the charges.
