Who is your customer?
If you could close your eyes now and imagine your perfect customer, could you describe them?
I went to a networking event recently where everyone went around the room and described who they were looking for. Here’s some of the comments:
“Anyone who wants to buy a new house”
“Anyone who wears a suit”
“Anyone who is tired of walking”
“SMEs (small to medium sized enterprises) who want to invest their money”
On first glance, these comments look fairly specific don’t they – my neighbour is looking for a new house, perhaps I could refer them across? But, just because he’s looking to buy a new house doesn’t mean they’ll be interested in this person’s products or services.
