What Is Coaching?
If you are an athlete with potential and you want to succeed you will normally retain the services of a coach. Similarly if you are an entrepreneur or SME owner with flair and want more out of your business, you need to appoint a business coach. A coach should work with you to stimulate your ideas and let you realise your full potential, they are not there to tell you how to run your business.
What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings people together with individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee.
Who Needs A Mentor / Coach?
It is lonely at the top, especially for the average SME owner/manager. Issues such as your own growth and development, working relationships with your team or specific business challenges can be highly confidential. But these matters are also important enough to merit the rare opportunity to discuss them, think out loud and receive constructive feedback. As an objective outsider a coach is free to question you on major issues, obtain valid data and address specific issues.
You need a mentor or a coach if you want to change what you currently do in your business. Maybe you have tried to change and haven’t succeeded; all you received for your effort was more of the same. Many people start a business and really all they have is a poorly paid job, a coach can help you turn it into a business that works whether you are there or not.
